Conformity with reference to ISO 16128
CCPB provides a new service of assessment of conformity with reference to ISO 16128-2: 2016, Cosmetics – Guidelines on technical definitions and criteria for natural and organic cosmetic ingredients.
The importance and the benefits of ISO
The confomity concerns the validation of the calculation of the naturalness and organic origin indexes of cosmetics and/or their ingredients. It is a conformity assessment service that can be very useful for companies, because it allows:
- An assessment by a competent body as CCPB which has been operating in this specific field for many years
- To comply with an index calculation system defined by ISO, then by the international standardization body.
The importance of a compliance with international ISO criteria is very important, in particular in case of absence of a specific European regulation on organic cosmetics, that exists for agri-food products. We remind that ISO standards are defined by considering the representatives’ binding opinions of all the stakeholders, therefore from the producers to the consumers.
How the assessment works
Companies interested in this service after applying the validation of the calculation and signing the contractual documents (contract and economic offer) must submit the documentation stating the composition (recipe), the specifications of the ingredients/raw materials and the calculation performed by the applicant.
Once the calculation has been appoved, a validation certificate will be issued for each cosmetic product or ingredient. Upon the receipt of the above documentation, CCPB sees to the document evaluation, the decision for certification and the issuing of the validation certificate, with the following entry in the register of certified products.
