Bio Suisse

Bio Suisse is the largest organic organization in Switzerland and owner of the Bud label. Through this label, Bio Suisse guarantees compliance with its directive throughout the entire supply chain.

Import of Bio Suisse organic products into Switzerland are carried out exclusively by importers holding a valid license agreement with Bio Suisse. Generally, interested importers require their potential suppliers to obtain Bio Suisse certification in order to sell products under the Bio Suisse label in Switzerland.

How it works

A fundamental requirement for the certification of a foreign company, in addition to complying with the directives, is holding an organic certification in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/848 or equivalent to the Swiss Organic Ordinance. The International Certification Bio Suisse AG (ICB AG) is the certification body for companies outside Switzerland with which CCPB has a collaboration.

Certification application

Operators wishing to obtain Bio Suisse certification must submit a request to CCPB, which organize the inspection. Whenever possible, Bio Suisse inspections are carried out simultaneously with those required under the EU Regulation (or equivalent) on organic production, directly on-site.
Following the inspection, CCPB forwards the documentation to ICB AG for review. If successful, ICB AG issues the Bio Suisse certificate, possibly accompanied by conditions to be met by the next annual inspection.
